Three Days Grace frontman talks treatment center shows
Three Days Grace recently played a series of acoustic dates during its latest North American tour at centers for addiction, mental health facilities, and group homes. The shows, a mix of solo performances by frontman Adam Gontier and acoustic shows by the entire band, began in August and Gontier told us how they came about: "You know, a couple of years ago, I dealt with my own problems and when you're in one of those centers, when you're a resident there, it's a really, really, you know, tough time in your life and it's really hard to deal with. So I had this idea of just playing acoustic at different treatment centers and youth centers, whatever, just to go in and talk to people. And, you know, for me it's a way to give back to that community that just helped me, you know, and turned my life around."
One such gig took place on November 29th at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, where Gontier went into recovery two years ago for drug and alcohol addictions.
Three Days Grace has been supporting its second album, One X, which came out in June and has spawned the singles "Animal I Have Become" and "Pain."
Three Days Grace begins a short tour with Buckcherry on January 19th in Columbus, Ohio before hitting the road with fellow Canadians Nickelback in late February.
