Velvet Revolver finally ready to record
Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum has issued another update on the progress of the band's second album, which he says the group is "finally going to start recording," according to a post online. Sorum wrote, "We have 18 songs ready and we are all very excited. Producer Brendan O'Brien has been in pre-production with us at Scott's (Weiland, vocals) Lavish studios for the last three weeks. We have been working six days a week, and let me tell you, that man has whipped us into shape. This will be a killer album, I promise you."Sorum added that the band plans to record right up until Christmas and then finish just after the New Year. He also said that tour plans are in the works for the spring, concluding, "I know it has taken a little while, but it's going to rock. Can't wait to get back out on the road with all you great fans."
Brendan O'Brien has produced or mixed records by many of the major rock bands of the last 20 years, including Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave.
The new Velvet Revolver album's working title is Libertad. It will follow up the group's 2004 debut, Contraband, which has sold more than two million copies in the U.S. There is no release date yet for the new CD.
