Yoko Ono's chauffeur indicted, Macca juggles Christmas joined custody, fans petition for knighthood for Ringo Starr

Yoko Ono's former chauffeur was indicted on December 19th in Manhattan Supreme Court on two counts on attempted grand larceny, reports The New York Times. Koral Karsan is accused of threatening Ono's life and demanding $2 million in exchange for keeping her and son Sean Lennon's personal secrets under wraps. He allegedly warned Ono that he had people "on standby waiting to kill her." Karsan is also accused of plotting to break into Ono's apartment to steal pieces from her art collection.

Karsan's attorney Robert Gottleib claimed in open court that Ono has accused Karsan of blackmail in an effort to stop him from filing a sexual harassment suit against him, stating that, "Miss Ono used and abused Mr. Karsan by pressing him to perform immoral and in fact illegal acts... (keeping him) on call 24 hours a day, even to tuck her into bed at night." He added that Ono's actions had "escalated over the years," and were "immoral and illegal."

Assistant District Attorney Anne Schwartz successfully urged the judge to revoke Karsan's $250,000 bail because he is presumed to be in the U.S. illegally from his native Turkey, and that with his work visa evidently having expired, he poses a potential flight risk.

Schwartz said that a police search of Karsan's home in Amityville, Long Island found "photographs on computer disks of all of the artwork in Ms. Ono's home and of the windows, courtyard and roof." She went on to say that, "It's clear that this defendant had been planning and plotting (against Ono.)"

Karsan's attorney countered that as Ono's head of security he needed to have a layout of all the windows and possible entrances to Ono's New York apartment. Karsan remains in jail until a January 11th immigration hearing is scheduled.

In Paul McCartney news:

Paul McCartney is trying to appease estranged wife Heather Mills, who is reportedly "distraught" that McCartney will have their three year-old daughter Beatrice staying with him for Christmas. According to the joint custody schedule the couple agreed upon shortly after their separation, McCartney has the child from Friday to Tuesday, with Mills having custody of the child from Tuesday afternoon until Friday afternoon. This year, Christmas falls on a Monday, and Mills is reportedly beside herself.

A source said that, "Heather is absolutely livid. She thinks Bea should be with her on Christmas Day -- but it's just chance that it hasn't worked out that way... Paul feels wretched and has been trying to appease Heather."

The source added that, "Even after everything that's gone on, Paul can't fully turn against Heather. He's always said she's a good mother and wants Bea to have as normal an upbringing as possible despite the split." McCartney will reportedly cut his time with the child short and return the child to Mills in the early morning of the 26th.

In Ringo Starr news:

Britain's The Sun is backing a campaign to help include Ringo Starr earn knighthood on the Queen's New Year's Honors List. If knighted, Starr would join fellow rockers including Mick Jagger, Elton John, former Beatles bandmate Paul McCartney, and the group's legendary producer George Martin.

The Sun printed in a testimonial that, "(Ringo) is the man who has touched the lives of three generations of music fans with his genius, the man who was one quarter of the greatest band ever to walk the Earth -- and, last but not least, the man who provided the voice for Thomas The Tank Engine."

The Queen's Honors are awarded twice a year, in June and at the New Year. They are awarded to people for all types of service, including the performing arts.

Starr has publicly stated that he's indifferent towards the honor, and even included a tongue in cheek ribbing of the Queen titled "Elizabeth Reigns" on his 2003 album Ringo Rama.

Starr, McCartney, and the late John Lennon and George Harrison were honored by the Queen in 1965 when they were honored with an MBE --- The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. Lennon returned his in 1969 to protest Britain's political involvement in Biafra and Vietnam.
