30 Seconds To Mars frontman says film, music fans cross over
30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto is spending some time this week at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. In addition to being a rock musician, Leto is also a full-time actor and has appeared in films such as Fight Club, Requiem For A Dream, American Psycho and Alexander. Leto told us that fans of his two careers often cross over: "I have people that come to the show that are like, 'Oh my God, I've had your CD for months and you're the guy in that movie, huh?' Or else people will come and say, 'Hey, I loved Requiem, will you sign my CD, you guys are my favorite band.' So there's some cross-pollinization there, and there's people that probably don't like the music and like the films, or people that like the music and don't like the films as well."
According to the New York Post, the singer and actor hasn't been in a good mood at this year's Sundance. Leto reportedly clashed with photographers and clubgoers at a Park City nightclub on Saturday night (January 20th). Leto shouted at one cameraman to stop taking his picture, before confronting a "big guy" who grabbed his hair as he was exiting the club. No punches were thrown, but Leto returned to the venue later to track the man down.
Leto is at Sundance to promote his new film, Chapter 27, in which he plays Mark David Chapman, the man who murdered John Lennon. Leto gained considerable weight for the film and reportedly got ill as a result.
30 Seconds To Mars' second album, A Beautiful Lie, was recently certified platinum for sales of more than one million copies.
The band will co-headline this year's Taste Of Chaos tour with the Used, beginning on February 15th in Seattle.
