30 Seconds To Mars singer's new film premieres at Sundance
30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto's new movie, Chapter 27, received its world premiere on Tuesday night (January 23rd) at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Leto stars in the film as Mark David Chapman, the man who shot John Lennon to death on December 8th, 1980. Leto reportedly gained 62 pounds for the role, becoming ill as a result. He told us that it wasn't a pleasant task: "It was a challenging experience and really hard. It's not a good thing to do to yourself, put it that way. But it was really important for the character. It changed how I walked, how I talked, how people treated me...it changed everything and really helped me transform, and it suited the part."
Early online reviews from the festival, unfortunately, have not been positive for Chapter 27. A group of Lennon fans have started a movement to boycott the movie, at boycottchapter27.org.
Leto has also appeared in films such as Fight Club, Requiem For A Dream, American Psycho and Alexander.
The singer and actor reportedly clashed with photographers and clubgoers at a Park City nightclub last Saturday night (January 20th), according to the New York Post.
30 Seconds To Mars will co-headline this year's Taste Of Chaos tour with the Used, beginning on February 15th in Seattle.
