Ailing My Chemical Romance guitarist leaves tour
My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero abruptly returned home to the U.S. from Japan on Thursday morning (January 11th) due to a "sudden attack of illness," according to MTV. A band spokesperson did not disclose the nature of Iero's illness or his condition. The group was in Tokyo when Iero was taken ill, where they were preparing to begin a four-show mini-tour, and has enlisted Todd Price of the band Drive By to fill in for the guitarist.
My Chemical Romance will remain in Japan until Sunday (January 14th), when the band flies to New Zealand for the January 19th beginning of the Big Day Out festival tour.
The New Jersey-based punk act will begin a North American tour in support of its new album, The Black Parade, on February 22nd.
