American Idol hoping for Paul McCartney appearance in 2007

American Idol judge and executive producer Simon Cowell hinted that Paul McCartney may join the long line of celebrity coaches for the show's upcoming season. Cowell spoke to entertainmentweekly.com and revealed that the show is hopeful that McCartney will finally consent and appear. Cowell said, "'Everyone wants Paul McCartney, and there's a chance this year. It would be fantastic to do the Beatles songbook.''

Past celebrity coaches have included Paul Anka, Rod Stewart and Stevie Wonder.
