Angels And Airwaves drummer still pulling double duty

Angels And Airwaves drummer Atom Willard is apparently still also a member of the Offspring despite reports last week that he had departed the latter band. According to Tunelab Music, Angels bassist Rob Sinn confirmed that Willard is still a member of both groups. Angels And Airwaves frontman Tom DeLonge recently told us that he knew of Willard even before his days in the Offspring: "Atom I knew from a long time ago, because he was in a band called Rocket From The Crypt, which was a very big band. And then I had all these people calling me right after the Blink (-182) breakup, 'You need Atom, you need Atom,' 'cause all my mutual friends just thought he was the greatest drummer and greatest person, which I knew both, but I didn't know him incredibly well, you know."

DeLonge formed Angels And Airwaves after splitting with his previous band, Blink-182, in early 2005.

Angels And Airwaves has entered the studio to begin working on its second album, according to a post on the band's official web site. The post said, "After much thought and consideration, the band got together and decided that it was time to regroup and write their second record. It's a very exciting time."

The new disc will follow up the band's 2006 debut effort, We Don't Need to Whisper, which failed to match the sales of DeLonge's output with Blink.

The Offspring is also in the studio readying its eighth effort.
