Audioslave guitarist readies solo album

Audioslave and former Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello has set an April 24th release date for the first album of his folk-singing alter ego, The Nightwatchman. One Man Revolution will feature many of the politically oriented songs that Morello has been performing since launching his acoustic guitar-slinging Nightwatchman persona in 2004. One Man Revolution was produced by Audioslave collaborator Brendan O'Brien.

Morello will tour as The Nightwatchman in the spring, with an appearance slated at the mid-March South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. No other dates have yet been announced.

Morello has been hosting a weekly Nightwatchman residency on Tuesday nights at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, with guests such as former Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, System Of A Down singer Serj Tankian, and Cypress Hill rapper Sen Dog.

Audioslave released its third album, Revelations, in September. The band is currently on hiatus while frontman Chris Cornell records a solo album.

In other Morello news, there are rumors that Rage Against the Machine will reunite for the first time since 2000, to play at this year's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, which takes place April 27th through 29th in Indio, California. No official comments have been made about the report, however.
