Bad year in drummer's life fueled new Sevendust album
Sevendust's upcoming album, Alpha, is possibly the band's most aggressive outing since its 1999 sophomore effort, Home. Drummer Morgan Rose, who writes many of the lyrics, told us that there's a reason why he wrote some pretty heavy material this time around: "I personally had a rough year-and-a-half. I had the old grandfather dies, you know, that's something that always is not easy to deal with, but, you know, I got arrested, and got a divorce, and got custody of my kid, and my dad got arrested by a truckload of SWAT guys with machine guns and took him to federal prison, he's in there for five years. So it was a crummy year."
Rose got divorced from former Coal Chamber bassist Rayna Foss-Rose, whom he married in 1998. They have a seven-year-old daughter named Kayla.
Both Rose's and his father's arrests were for drug-related offenses.
Alpha, Sevendust's sixth studio album, arrives on March 6th. The first single from the disc is called "Driven."
Another track from the CD, called "Deathstar," is streaming at the group's official web site, sevendust.info.
Sevendust will begin a 57-date North American tour on February 8th in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
