Chris Daughtry hits number one with debut album
The debut album from American Idol's Chris Daughtry has climbed up to Number One in its ninth week on the Billboard album chart, selling more than 65,000 copies in the U.S. The disc debuted at Number Two back in November and hasn't dropped below the 11th slot thanks to the success of the single "It's Not Over." Daughtry, who wrote several songs on the CD, told us that at first he didn't think he'd get to have a lot of input on the album: "In the beginning, I thought that was going to be the case, and then when I took the meeting with (label head) Clive Davis, I played him a few of my songs that I had written prior to the show. And he was very impressed and that gave me the confidence that he was gonna kind of have my back on it and allow me to really put out the album I wanted to put out."
Daughtry will stop by MTV's TRL on Thursday, January 25th.
Daughtry's group kicks off a tour on January 28th in Anaheim, California.
