Chris Daughtry lines up National Anthem gig and more dates

Chris Daughtry will sing the National Anthem at the NFC playoff game this Sunday (January 21st) when the Chicago Bears take on the New Orleans Saints. The American Idol star will then take his band, Daughtry, out on the road later this month, beginning on January 28th in Anaheim, California. Dates are scheduled through April 17th, when the tour wraps in Memphis, Tennessee.

Daughtry will be out behind its self-titled debut, which was recorded last year under the supervision of RCA Records chief Clive Davis. Chris Daughtry told us that he had a lot of freedom with the material that ended up on the CD: "I had so much creative control over it. Clive allowed me to write most of the album and co-write all but two songs. So it was just an honor for me to be able to express myself artistically and musically and lyrically throughout the majority of the album because then it feels like it's a part of me, and I wasn't just given a bunch of songs to sing. That would have felt like more of an Idol project to me than my own thing."

Daughtry premiered the video for current single "It's Not Over" on MTV's TRL on Wednesday, January 18th.
