Coldplay working with Brian Eno
Coldplay has reportedly recruited U2 producer Brian Eno to work with the band on its fourth album, according to Billboard.com. Eno announced the news himself during a Friday (January 26th) interview on England's BBC Radio Four, saying that he expected the new Coldplay disc to be "very original and very different from what they've done before." Representatives for Coldplay have not commented officially on Eno's revelation. The band itself is slated to debut several new songs during an upcoming South American tour that will begin on February 14th in Chile.
Eno first came to prominence during the '70s as the keyboard player for Roxy Music. He is widely believed to have coined the term "ambient music" and is one of that genre's most influential figures.
He has co-produced many of U2's biggest albums, including The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. Other production credits include the Talking Heads, Devo and Paul Simon.
There's no word on when Coldplay will begin recording its next CD, which will follow up 2005's multi-platinum X&Y.
Singer Chris Martin will appear on "Homecoming," a track off Kanye West's forthcoming album, Graduation.
