Daughtry announces initial tour dates

Daughtry has started announcing initial tour dates for 2007, beginning with a gig on January 28th in Anaheim, California. So far, only four shows have been announced, but more dates are expected to be added soon, with the tour wrapping in April. The band, fronted by American Idol winner Chris Daughtry, will be out behind its self-titled debut album, which has already gone platinum, according to DaughtryOfficial.com. Chris Daughtry told us that he credits Idol for helping to launch his career: "I think it was a fantastic opportunity to get my face out there and use it to show the world what I was able to do. And for me it wasn't about necessarily winning it as much as it was in the beginning to get more gigs with my band. And it definitely took on a life of its own."

Daughtry's current single is "It's Not Over."

The new American Idol season gets underway next Tuesday (January 16th) on Fox.
