Doobie Brothers singer no fan of "No Child Left Behind" program

Doobie Brothers singer-guitarist Pat Simmons is not impressed by President George Bush's "No Child Left Behind" act. Simmons is the father of two school-age children, so he's familiar with the program, which was enacted to reform the educational system and give young people every chance to succeed. While those are admirable goals, Simmons once told us that the implementation of the program left a lot to be desired: "It's hard for me to, to listen to people speak about this wonderful 'No Child Left Behind' philosophy, and then look around and see how much less is being made available for our children. It's very hypocritical, I think."

The Doobies will play the Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa next weekend (February 3rd and 4th), and they have shows booked into September.
