Fall Out Boy album leaks, bassist whines about it

Fall Out Boy's new album, Infinity On High, leaked online over the weekend, more than two weeks before its scheduled release date of February 6th. According to RollingStone.com, bassist Pete Wentz hinted at a show in Atlanta last Friday (January 19th) that the group's label might push the CD's arrival up a week to January 30th to combat the leak. Wentz also posted a message about the leak at the band's web site, writing, "As an artist we have a vision for how we want our record to be presented and this isn't it. It is unfortunate that a couple of vultures in a plant somewhere can ruin this vision so easily. On the other hand we understand what its like to wait and wait for a new record."

Wentz added that he hopes fans will remember that "we only put out records so we can keep touring and traveling...Obviously your support helps that. Please take this into consideration with whatever decision you make when it comes to downloading the record and buying it when it is released."

Fall Out Boy singer Patrick Stump told us that fans won't be surprised by any drastic changes in style on Infinity On High: "I just hate when bands really try laboriously to make the record sound not like their last record, so we didn't on this record. Yet people keep talking about how different it is, and I'm like, 'Well, I suppose that's a good sign.' 'Cause it was just natural, it wasn't, it was literally no effort -- in fact, there was a lot of effort put into trying to make sure that it bridged enough to the last record."

Fall Out Boy concluded its Friends or Enemies tour this past Saturday (January 20th) in Orlando, Florida. The band will next headline the 2007 Honda Civic Tour, beginning on April 18th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
