Fall Out Boy bassist speaks out on fight

Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz has spoken about the incident that occurred in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 7th, when he jumped into the crowd and fought a venue security guard who allegedly hassled a member of the band's security team. Although no one was seriously injured and no legal action was taken, Wentz told MTV.com that he was still upset by the brawl, saying, "The whole thing escalated real quick, but when I watch the video, I know what I see: I see their dude push (Fall Out Boy security guard) Charlie. And a lot of people were like, 'Oh, it was just a security guy,' but I've known Charlie since he was 16 and moved in with me after getting kicked out of his parents' house. And I'm not gonna let my friends fight alone."

The guard for the venue, the Sunshine Theatre, had reportedly been giving Charlie a hard time about letting fans onstage to dance. The guard got physical and dragged Fall Out Boy's man off the stage, prompting Wentz to follow.

The incident was captured on video through fan cell phones and was rapidly distributed on the web.

Sunshine Theatre owner Joe Anderson said both sides made "errors," but added that Fall Out Boy ignored the venue's policy about keeping audience members off the stage. Anderson said, "Of course, they're gonna ride the hype of the whole thing, because the video got out there, but I've read their explanation and they glossed over some things a little bit."

Anderson admitted that it wasn't clear whether Fall Out Boy had been notified about the stage policy before the show, adding that he wasn't sure if he would book the band again, regardless.

Fall Out Boy's current Friends or Enemies tour continues tonight (Thursday, January 18th) in Raleigh, North Carolina and concludes on Saturday (January 20th) in Orlando, Florida.
