Fall Out Boy offering live EP as incentive to buy leaked album
Fall Out Boy will offer fans a special live EP as an incentive to purchase the band's upcoming album, Infinity On High. According to MTV.com, the group and its label have come up with the plan to counter the leak of the record online last weekend. Although bassist Pete Wentz reportedly hinted onstage last Friday (January 19th) that the CD's release date would be pushed up a week from February 6th to January 30th, Wentz denied that, saying, "We wanted to dispel a few rumors for everyone who's out there on the Internet and maybe has come to the conclusion that our record is coming out on January 30. It's not. The release date is still February 6. And we're going to include a little something extra, a special little EP, as part of the package."
The EP, titled Leaked In London, will be recorded on Monday (January 29th) at the band's show in the British capital. Everyone who buys or pre-orders a physical copy of Infinity On High will be able to insert the disc into a computer and download the EP for free from the band's web site.
The EP will be available on February 6th, the same day that Infinity On High arrives in stores.
The music industry as a whole is reeling from a deep plunge in CD sales since the beginning of 2007. This week's Number One album, from the band Daughtry, sold less than 70,000 copies.
