Jimmy Eat World nearly finished with new album
Jimmy Eat World is nearly finished with work on its new album, according to Billboard. The yet-to-be-titled project will follow up the punk outfit's 2004 effort, Futures, which debuted at Number Six on the Billboard album chart and has sold 607,000 copies in the U.S. Garbage drummer Butch Vig produced the record, which is due out in early summer. Vig said that the album is "quite eclectic," adding, "There are three or four songs that sound like classic Jimmy Eat World, with angular, razor-sharp guitars. There are a couple that are a lot more dreamy, and some that are very groove-acious. Anybody who is a fan will like this record."
Vig has previously produced such alternative rock classics as Nirvana's Nevermind and the Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream.
Jimmy Eat World will reissue its first two albums, 1996's Static Prevails and 1999's Clarity, on May 15th. Each will contain rare and previously unreleased bonus tracks selected by the band members themselves.
The new editions of the albums will be timed to coincide with the band's summer 2007 tour and the release of the new CD.
