Nickelback donating proceeds from single to charity

Nickelback will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from digital sales of its new single and video, "If Everyone Cared," to International Children's Awareness Canada and Amnesty International. The group's label, distributor and publishing company will match the band's donations, beginning this Thursday (February 1st). Guitarist Ryan Peake said in a statement, "Nickelback's success has thankfully afforded us the opportunity as a band to make a significant contribution to the organization my wife and I have supported for years, International Children's Awareness Canada. Now...we can globalize our efforts with Amnesty International. The idea is simply to do something that moves you and helps others, no matter how small. "

The video for "If Everyone Cared" pays tribute to four people who have made important contributions to the betterment of humanity: Live Aid creator Bob Geldof, former South African president Nelson Mandela, Amnesty International founder Peter Benenson and Betty Williams from the World Centers of Compassion for Children International.

"If Everyone Cared" is the sixth single from Nickelback's 2005 album, All The Right Reasons, which has sold nearly five million copies in the U.S.

The Canadian group will begin a U.S. tour on February 20th in Tacoma, Washington.
