Paul McCartney said to reach $63m divorce settlement
According to a British tabloid, Paul McCartney's divorce from Heather Mills will cost him about $63 million in total. The News Of The World reports that McCartney will give Mills a mansion in northwest London valued at nearly $8 million; another home in Beverly Hills worth about $12 million; and a lump-sum cash payment in the neighborhood of $43 million. The story adds that Mills will earn nearly $2 million in interest every year on the payout.
There's been no confirmation of the story from either McCartney or Mills, who have a three-year-old daughter named Beatrice. The News Of The World didn't say who would have custody of the little girl once the settlement is finalized.
While Macca is said to have agreed to the deal to keep things private, his older daughters are reportedly furious. The newspaper quotes people close to Stella and Mary as saying, "Their poor dad has been dragged through the mire by this woman, and all they wanted was to see his name cleared on the record, in public. Stella used to joke about looking forward to the day when Heather didn't even have one leg to stand on in court. But now that day will never come." Stories have been leaked that McCartney was verbally and physically abusive to Mills during their relationship, though no proof has ever been offered.
Macca is reportedly working on songs that deal with his personal life and marriage to Mills. There's no word on when the new music might be released.
