Paul McCartney's new album said to draw heavily on divorce
Paul McCartney might be focusing his upcoming album directly on his split from his second wife Heather Mills. Virgin.net reported that a source close to McCartney told Britain's Daily Express that, "Paul never stops writing songs and they often reflect what's going on in his life at the time. It's now understood that tracks on his next album will include some direct references to his recent difficulties. He's also said to have written a song to his three-year-old daughter Beatrice, explaining to her how things turned out the way they did."
Macca first raised eyebrows in late 2005 when his Grammy-nominated Chaos And Creation In The Backyard featured two songs, "Friends To Go" and "Riding To Vanity Fair," which were rumored to hint at the McCartneys' upcoming split.
The last time that Macca took decidedly public jabs at someone close to him was on his 1971 album Ram, which included several thinly-veiled references to the Beatles' breakup and McCartney's split with John Lennon. Lennon, with a little help from George Harrison, retaliated later that year on the searing track "How Do You Sleep?" from his Imagine album.
There has been no title or release date set for McCartney's still untitled album. But plans are reportedly in the works for concert dates later on in the year.
McCartney's lead guitarist Rusty Anderson, who's been recording and performing with him since 2001, told us that McCartney's sessions are never predictable: "You know, I think Paul goes through phases where he gets just really free and fun, and it's all easy and we play. And then he gets into other phases where he gets very meticulous, like he wants a solo to be a certain exact way, or whatever, depending on his mood, I guess."
