Plus 44 names replacement for Travis Barker
Plus 44 has named Gil Sharone as the temporary replacement for drummer Travis Barker, who was forced to leave the band's current European tour due to lingering effects of a broken arm he sustained last October. According to Punkbands.com, Sharone wrote on his MySpace page that he had joined the group in Vienna, Austria, saying, "I played my first show last night (Monday, January 22nd) with them after learning the whole record on the plane ride over to Germany...I'm glad to help the band out and fill in for a drummer that I have a ton of respect for. All the guys and the crew kick ass and its going to be a fun tour."
Barker has returned to Los Angeles to see the doctors who have been treating him, according to a statement issued by the band, which added that the former Blink-182 drummer's fractured arm has "worsened."
Barker injured the arm during the video shoot for Plus 44's first single, "When Your Heart Stops Beating." He played subsequent dates using just one arm.
Plus 44 wraps up its European tour in early February and will open in the U.S. for headliners Fall Out Boy on the 2007 Honda Civic Tour in April.
