Rolling Stones named 2006's top earners

The Rolling Stones have topped Forbes magazine's list of the Top 10 moneymakers in the music business, landing at Number 1 for the second year in a row with earnings in 2006 of $150.6 million. Other rock acts on the list included Bon Jovi at Number 8 with $77.5 million, Nickelback at number 9 with $74.1 million, and the Dave Matthews Band at Number 10 with $60.4 million. The other artists on the list were pop-country couple Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Kenny Chesney and Celine Dion.

The Top 10 acts made a collective $973 million last year, down from $994 million in 2005.

All the artists made the bulk of their money on the road.

Nickelback will start putting more money in the bank on February 20th, when it begins a North American tour in Tacoma, Washington. Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin will be along as support.

"If Everyone Cared" is the latest single from Nickelback's 2005 album, All The Right Reasons, which has sold nearly five million copies.
