Sly Stone makes cameo appearance at Family Stone show
Over the weekend, Sly Stone made his first public appearance in about a year. Stone, who's still got the platinum mohawk hairdo he showed off at last year's Grammy Awards, came out during a set by the Family Stone Band at the House Of Blues in Anaheim, California, on Saturday (January 13th). Sly was brought out by his little sister Vet Stone, who leads the group, for a version of "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)," and he returned to the stage later to add some vocals to "I Want To Take You Higher."
While there had been advance notice that Sly would be at the gig, no one was really sure until he actually took the stage. The last time he performed for an audience was at the Grammys last February, during a Sly & the Family Stone tribute that also included Steven Tyler and Joe Perry from Aerosmith, British R&B singer Joss Stone, and modern rock band Maroon5.
