Squeeze lyricist Chris Difford sets American tour
Chris Difford, who with songwriting partner Glenn Tilbrook formed the core of Squeeze, is headed to the U.S. Difford has booked 13 shows in February and March, on what he says will be his first dates here in 10 years. Difford is also working on a new album that's tentatively called Another Day Above Ground, and he wrote on his official chrisdifford.com website that "it should be ready for release in the spring."
Difford and Tilbrook split up a while back, and Tilbrook told us that it turned out to be the right move for them: "Not working together has enabled us to appreciate each other for what we are. And not having the responsibility of going up each other's noses all the time has enabled us to get back our relationship, which was lost, really, when we started making records. I would rather have the relationship with Chris, and friendship, rather than the professional relationship -- that's more important to me. And we get on better now than we have done at, you know, any point since 1976, which is great."
Tilbrook's got a handful of shows beginning Saturday (January 6th) in Nashville.
