Wolfmother plans to make it to the Grammy Awards
Wolfmother plans to somehow make it to the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 11th, where the band's single "Woman" is nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance. Despite having dates in England on the 9th and Holland on the 13th, frontman Andrew Stockdale told MTV, "For sure we'll be there, without a doubt. This is the highlight of the year. We've got to be there to experience it, see what it's all about...we're just honored to be a part of (it), and to contribute our rock and roll vision and bring it forward to America and be appreciated."
The Australian trio has attended an award show before, winning three prizes at its home country's Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Awards last fall. Bassist Chris Ross told us that he wasn't sure how to handle the experience: "I never really get nervous about shows, but actually an awards ceremony like that, I was really out of my comfort zone. So I think for most of the day, I felt kind of anxious. But once it started, it was just mayhem and people everywhere, and I think that kind of helped me relax, so I was like, 'Oh, no one really knows what's going on anyway.' By the time we got there, it all just started rolling and I didn't really have time to think about it."
Wolfmother won Best Group, Best Breakthrough Album and Best Rock Album at the ARIA Awards.
The band is competing for the Best Hard Rock Grammy against Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Buckcherry and System Of A Down.
Wolfmother has been on tour for most of the past year supporting its self-titled debut album. The group will return to the U.S. for another run in late February, with a February 28th date in Minneapolis already confirmed. More shows will be announced in the coming weeks.
The group expects to begin recording its second album in the fall.
