Audioslave guitarist focusing on solo project

Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello is not certain about the future of either band, but he knows for sure that he will be spending a lot more time working as his political folk alter ago, the Nightwatchman. Morello will issue his first solo album under that name on April 24th, and said that the Nightwatchman will always be active no matter what else he's doing: "The Nightwatchman stuff has become a very important balancing agent for me. You know, I love the big arena rock of Audioslave, but I need to play political music. And I've found out the best way to do that is to just do it yourself. That's a very, very fulfilling part of my musical world, and I intend to keep doing that and do it even more."

Rage Against The Machine will reunite for its first live performance in seven years on April 29th at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California.

In an interview with MTV.com that was quickly taken down from the site just hours after it was first posted, Morello said the band was reforming for the event "to deliver a knockout blow to the Bush administration."

The guitarist added that Rage has not ruled out future activities beyond Coachella.

As for Audioslave, Morello said that singer Chris Cornell did not want to tour in support of the band's third studio album, Revelations, which came out last fall. He gave no indication of whether the band would record or tour again. Cornell has been recording a solo album for the past few months.
