The Beatles' LOVE performance ends with false alarm, drenched audience and refunds for all
The Beatles' Las Vegas show LOVE at the Mirage Hotel was interrupted on Saturday night (February 10th) when a false fire alarm not only stopped the show, but cut off power and drenched the audience with its sprinkler system. According to the group's fan website whatgoeson.com, after about 25 minutes, "The fire alarm automatically caused loud sirens to blare and turned off the sound halfway through the song ("Help!"), stopped the special stage lighting, (and) shut off both special projected images. There was then an announcement that the Mirage hotel was investigating the fire alarm."
After a 10-minute wait, a member of the cast came out to say that the show would resume once the false alarm was turned off. It was then that the sprinklers kicked on and drenched both the audience and portions of the multi-million dollar lighting system. The stunned audience members were given a full refund.
Earlier in the year Yoko Ono told us that although she's one of the show's producers, she a huge fan of The Beatles LOVE: "I went to Las Vegas a few times on behalf of John (Lennon). I was totally amazed how good it was! I thought it was great, and I think it's great. You should go to Las Vegas to see it (laughs)."

In contrast to the recent hoopla surrounding the Beatles' catalogue finally becoming available as digital downloads online, the album version to the soundtrack The Beatles LOVE has just been issued as a two-record set. The album, which is available as a British import, includes all 26 "mashups" of Beatles songs as found on the CD version.
