The Beatles to release entire catalogue online

The Beatles' albums will be available for digital downloading soon. The group's longtime right-hand man and Apple Corps.' Managing Director Neil Aspinall told foxnews.com that the entire catalogue has already been revamped, saying, "All 13 core albums, the ones originally released on CD in 1987, have been remastered. At some point they will all be released, probably at the same time."

When asked whether the recent settlement with Apple Inc., which gave the computer company full rights to the Apple brand, will lead the group to launch their albums exclusively through Apple's iTunes music service, Aspinall said, "It will be on all the services, not just one." He did not give a date for either the street or online release of the catalogue.

Aspinall also said that the long-awaited DVD release of the Beatles' final film, Let It Be, which documented the group on the verge of splitting, is still not on the boards for a re-release. As he explained, "The film was so controversial when it first came out. When we got halfway through restoring it, we looked at the outtakes and realized: this stuff is still controversial. It raised a lot of old issues."

The 13 original Beatles albums are: Please Please Me (1963); With The Beatles (1963); A Hard Day's Night (1964); Beatles For Sale (1964); Help! (1965); Rubber Soul (1965); Revolver (1966); Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967); Magical Mystery Tour (1967); The Beatles -- commonly referred to as "The White Album" -- (1968); Yellow Submarine (1969); Abbey Road (1969); and Let It Be (1970)

In 1988, as part of the initial set of CD releases, Capitol/EMI issued Past Masters Volume One and Past Masters Volume Two, which featured the officially released Beatles songs that were only issued on various singles, EPs, and charity collections. Although not announced by Aspinall, the two collections will probably be issued along with the rest of the catalogue.

Aspinall didn't mention whether recent Beatles vault reissues, such as the three volumes of The Beatles Anthology, Yellow Submarine Songtrack, Let It Be... Naked, or the multi-platinum hits compilation The Beatles 1, would be available anytime soon.
