Carlos Santana says no reunion with original band
It's official -- Carlos Santana will not be reuniting with the members of the original Santana band. Carlos and his former bandmates played together at an autism benefit last month in San Francisco, and with the Police and Van Halen both reforming for tours this summer, the question has popped up again for the guitarist. On Tuesday, a caller to radio station KGO-AM in San Francisco asked Carlos if he and his old mates had any plans, and the answer was a resounding no. Carlos said, "Not at all. We just had a meeting about two, three weeks ago, we got together, and the chemistry's still there, the magic's still there, but I don't feel that to happen. I think I need to go forward. In fact, I'm more (into), like, finding people in the streets with no names, young people, and just... I like the unknown."He added, "It's intriguing to me... to go for something that, thoughts that haven't been thunk and music that hasn't been heard. And to do that, you have to, like, truly walk away from everything, so you can hear that kind of music."
Carlos also confirmed that he won't be on the road this year when he said, "I'm not gonna tour 'til 2008, so I let my band go for about a year-and-a-half, almost."
