The Doors to receive star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Doors will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday (February 28th), in celebration of the band's 40th anniversary. Surviving members John Densmore, Robby Krieger, and Ray Manzarek will attend, along with Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman, who signed the Doors to the label. The ceremony will be officiated by honorary Mayor of Hollywood Johnny Grant.Earlier this month the band made famous by Jim Morrison was awarded the Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement, and on March 27th the band will reissue expanded versions of their six original albums: The Doors, Strange Days, Waiting For The Sun, The Soft Parade, Morrison Hotel, and L.A. Woman.
Robbie Krieger told us that the band's short time together was relatively free of ego problems or star trips: "It was really, like, the perfect group, you know, as far as working together and stuff. There was no ego problems, you know, and petty jealousies and stuff like that that a lot of groups go through."
