Martin Scorsese & Mick Jagger making movie together
Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese and rock icon Mick Jagger are teaming up for their second film collaboration. Scorsese -- the man behind an upcoming Rolling Stones documentary -- has signed on to direct The Long Play, a film Jagger developed about two friends in the music industry. Jagger will produce the project and self-described Valium-popping Departed screenwriter William Monahan will write it.Besides the Stones documentary, Scorsese has many music-related projects on his resume, including a Bob Dylan documentary that came out on DVD this week. Scorsese has also directed the video for Michael Jackson's "Bad," made an episode of the PBS documentary series The Blues, and perhaps most famously, directed The Band's farewell concert film, The Last Waltz.
Scorsese is also famous for never winning an Oscar before Sunday night (February 25th). He was 0-for-7 going into the awards and said backstage that he wasn't bitter about losing all those times because he's always been able to make the kind movies he wanted: "If this wasn't meant in the cards then that's life. The incredible thing is I got to make these movies I really wanted to make -- Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, you know, Raging Bull, films like Last Temptation Of Christ and Goodfellas. I mean, who can complain?"
