Metallica ask fans to name tour

Metallica has invited the members of its fan club to pick a name for the band's upcoming summer European tour, according to Blabbermouth. The group plans to head out on the continent's festival circuit for three weeks, with early July dates in Greece and Belgium already confirmed. The group's previous summer excursion last year was called "Escape From The Studio."

There doesn't appear to be any plans for the group to play U.S. shows on this summer's run.

Metallica is scheduled to enter the studio on March 12th to begin recording its ninth studio album, with the disc expected to arrive in late 2007 or early 2008.

Producer Rick Rubin said in an interview last week that he wants the band to make a "defining album, like the purest of what Metallica is."
