Naomi Campbell regrets angry outburst
Supermodel Naomi Campbell appeared on the newsmagazine Extra on Tuesday night, saying she regrets her behavior after angrily flinging a cell phone that injured her maid last year. The maid eventually took Campbell to court and won last month. "I felt very remorseful for having thrown the phone at someone that didn't deserve it," the English beauty admits. "I have a deep sense of shame for the things I've done."
Campbell said that when she lost her temper over a missing pair of jeans, she acted out due to "tiredness, lack of sleep (and) just so many things." Campbell added, "I was being really destructive to myself. ... I didn't know how to reach out. It was a really scary time."
The 35-year-old supermodel pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault last month for hitting her maid, Ana Scolavino, in the back of the head with the phone in March 2006. Scolavino was treated for a head injury.
During her court appearance, Campbell -- who has had other angry outbursts -- explained, "I threw a cell phone in the apartment. The cell phone hit Ana. This was an accident because I did not intend to hit her."
Campbell was ordered to pay $363 for Scolavino's medical treatment, complete five days of community service, and attend a two-day anger-management program.
The model told Extra she is benefiting from daily therapy, and that she also believes in the positive power of crystals. "I think they bring great energy," she said. "You should see how many I travel with."
