Osbournes to make historic Ozzfest announcement on Tuesday
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne will make what's being touted as a "surprising, groundbreaking, historic" announcement about the 2007 Ozzfest this Tuesday (February 6th) at a press conference in Los Angeles. Rumors are circulating about the lineup of this summer's event, with Alice In Chains surfacing as a potential headliner. Ozzy Osbourne has recently said he will once again only play selected dates, most likely on the second stage, leaving the top of the bill open. The slot was filled by two acts last year, System Of A Down and Disturbed. Although there are reports that Alice In Chains has agreed to appear, there's been no official news yet and the band's management did not respond to inquiries.Alice In Chains reunited last year after a decade-long hiatus with William DuVall filling in for late vocalist Layne Staley. There's been no word yet on the band's future plans since touring for much of 2006.
Korn, Metallica and Guns N' Roses were all rumored to have been approached last year after Osbourne announced his part-time status.
Meanwhile, Ozzy is working on his first new studio album since 2001's Down To Earth, telling Revolver magazine that his next effort will be a more raw and heavy affair reminiscent of his early solo work and even his output with Black Sabbath.
