Paul McCartney's daughter gets Heather Mills booted from PETA

Paul McCartney's estranged wife Heather Mills has been dropped as being a spokesperson by the animal rights group PETA (People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals). Britain's The Telegraph reported that Mills' departure was due to the urging of Macca's daughter Mary McCartney, who said that she would only work as a photographer on the PETA's latest campaign if her step-mother Heather -- who is only 19 months older -- was forced out of the organization.

A source close to the situation said that, "Mary was keen to take photographs for PETA, which she has done in the past, but wanted reassurances that Heather no longer represented the group."

A PETA spokesperson said in a statement that, "We have no plans to work with Heather Mills... We are very grateful for Mary McCartney's involvement in the new campaign. Her previous photographs have proved highly effective."

This is the second time that the McCartney family has left Mills out in the cold regarding her charity work. Last year, shortly after their separation was announced, Paul pulled out of Mills' annual Adopt-A-Landmine gala in Los Angeles. Paul's appearance at the benefits had previously brought in A-list celebrities willing to pay the hefty ticket price to meet Paul and see an intimate concert by the former Beatle and special guests. Paul's absence forced last year's event to be cancelled.

Earlier this year, The Daily Mail said that last summer, shortly after the Paul and Heather were separated, Mary physically attacked Heather on the family compound in Sussex.

The McCartney family has worked with animal rights groups PETA and Viva since the 1980s. Back in 1999 Paul performed at a PETA gala, premiering songs from his yet-to-be-released Run Devil Run album.
