Plus 44 gives update on Travis Barker's arm

Plus 44 bassist/singer Mark Hoppus has posted an update on drummer Travis Barker's condition at the band's MySpace page as well as his own site, HiMyNameIsMark.com. Barker broke his arm during a video shoot last October and has had lingering problems ever since, culminating in his temporary replacement on the road last month. Hoppus wrote that doctors "have determined that (Barker's) arm still has not healed completely from the injury he sustained...his arm is getting better, but is not all the way better yet."

Hoppus also wrote that Barker will begin using a device called a "bone stimulator" to "help regenerate the bone tissue and fill in the stress fractures." The bassist added, "His doctor also suggested that he start doing some drumming to build up strength in his arm and bone. So he is going to start working his arm again and using the bone stimulator device every day to build his arm back up to the point where he can play and not be in pain."

Hoppus concluded by saying that Barker will check back with his doctors in two weeks to see if his arm is making progress.

In the meantime, Gil Sharone filled in for Barker on the band's latest European tour, which concludes tonight (Friday, February 9th) in the U.K.

Barker injured the arm during the video shoot for Plus 44's first single, "When Your Heart Stops Beating." He played subsequent dates using just one arm.

Plus 44 has a couple of Australian dates scheduled for early March and will open for Fall Out Boy on the 2007 Honda Civic Tour in April.
