The Police said to play Boston's Fenway Park this summer
The reunited Police want to play Boston's Fenway Park, with shows on July 28th and 29th, according to Boston TV station WBZ. Fenway Park is the home of the Boston Red Sox, and has hosted big-name concerts over the past few years by the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, and the Dave Matthews Band, among others. There's no word yet on what the Police have planned beyond Sunday (February 11th), when they'll perform on the Grammy Awards telecast on CBS.Guitarist Andy Summers told us that even though the Police never really said a proper goodbye to their fans, a reunion wouldn't really give him a sense of closure: "I had this sort of conversation with a journalist, and I said, 'Well, it's unfinished business.' And he said, 'Well, why finish it?' And I went, 'You know what? You've got a point there! Why finish anything?' I mean, we get back together, and in fact, it doesn't really finish anything -- all it does is stir it up and put even further heat into the, you know, legacy of the band."
A story in the British press says the Police have been offered in the neighborhood of $300 million for shows in North America and Europe.
