The Police to announce reunion tour on Monday
The Police are expected to officially announce their reunion tour on Monday (February 12th). After their performance to open the Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 11th) in Los Angeles, they'll host a press conference at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, and, according to pollstar.com, the band will play a few songs at the club and announce some "really big news." Interestingly, the websites for both Sting and drummer Stewart Copeland are calling the event "The Police Rehearsals."On a related note, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that the Police might play at Wrigley Field, the home of the Chicago Cubs, on July 5th and 6th. This follows news that Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, might host the band on July 28th and 29th.
Guitarist Andy Summers told us that he wishes the Police had handled things differently when they split up: "Basically, what we should have done, I suppose, is taken a couple of years off, and then come back together, which would have been fine, you know? We could have done that, which is very standard practice these days -- probably not so much then. But no, we, we made it a very radical cut."
