Strokes guitarist not worried about band's reaction to solo career
Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. is playing around the country to promote his first solo album while his bandmates take some time off after five straight years of recording and touring. But Hammond doesn't think that the rest of the Strokes got the wrong impression from his desire to go out on his own: "I hope not. I mean, everyone was taking a big amount of time off and I just decided to just go play some shows in support of the record. It's not missing anything with the band to do this, you know."
Hammond's debut solo effort, Yours To Keep, comes out on March 6th.
The guitarist is on the road opening for Incubus and played on Friday, February 2nd, in Detroit.
Hammond also said he has "no idea" when the Strokes will get together again, but added that the band might possibly regroup this summer to begin writing its fourth album.
