Van Halen announce new American tour
There have been many rumors and reports about David Lee Roth being back in Van Halen for a tour this year and now it's official. The band will hit the road in 2007. The following statement has been released: "The tour will mark the first time since 1984 that original VAN HALEN front man David Lee Roth will perform with Eddie and Alex along with new bassist Wolfgang Van Halen for 40 shows this summer.
VAN HALEN fans can look forward to legendary high intensity performances, featuring a set list of the most iconic hits ever produced by America's premiere rock band.
Eddie Van Halen states, "I am very excited to get back to the core of what made VAN HALEN."
The band will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 12th in New York City, alongside REM, Patti Smith, the Ronettes, and Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five.
In related news, there will be a new Van Halen greatest-hits album this year, featuring material from original lead singer David Lee Roth. According to blabbermouth.net, March 13th is the release date for Best Of (1978-1984), a single-disc set with 19 songs from the band's first six albums, including "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," "Dance The Night Away," "And The Cradle Will Rock," "Unchained," "Dancing In The Street," and "Hot For Teacher." The CD booklet will include rarely seen photos, among other things.
The tentative tracklisting for Van Halen's Best Of (1978-1984) includes "Runnin' With The Devil," "Eruption," "You Really Got Me," "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," "Jamie's Cryin'," "Dance The Night Away," "Somebody Get Me A Doctor," "Beautiful Girls," "And The Cradle Will Rock," "Everybody Wants Some," "Mean Street," "Unchained," "So This Is Love?," "Where Have All The Good Times Gone," "Oh, Pretty Woman," "Dancing In The Street," "Jump," "Panama," and "Hot For Teacher."
