Arctic Monkeys announce North American tour

Arctic Monkeys will begin a North American tour in May to promote the release of the band's sophomore effort, Favorite Worst Nightmare. The trek is scheduled to launch on May 1st in San Francisco, concluding on May 20th in Orlando, Florida. The U.K.-based act will hit 13 cities in between. Favorite Worst Nightmare will be released on April 24th, with a single called "Brianstorm" expected to make its way to radio stations soon. Right before the tour, Arctic Monkeys will be one of the featured artists at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on April 27th.

Fan pre-sales for the tour will began on Tuesday, March 13th at 10 a.m. ET, with general public tickets available on Friday (March 16th).

The new record will follow up the British band's 2006 debut, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, which was the fastest-selling debut in the history of the U.K. music business.
