Art Garfunkel to play first solo New York show in 4 years
Art Garfunkel's upcoming U.S. dates will include his first solo New York City appearances in four years. Garfunkel, who is now on the road in support of his new standards set, titled Some Enchanted Evening, will perform on April 13th and 14th at the Allen Room at the Time Warner Center. He last performed in Manhattan during Simon & Garfunkel's 2003-2004 Old Friends reunion tour when the duo played New York's Madison Square Garden.
Garfunkel says that while recording the album he predicted that his fans would be guessing whether or not his take on the standards would sound modern or be produced as a period piece: "How cabaret will it be? How slick? Is he bowing to Vegas a little, a lot, or none? Well, this sort of bows to Vegas none. It's still rock and roll as we knew -- sexy, gluey, slow dancing rock and roll records."
Some Enchanted Evening features such standards as "Someone To Watch Over Me," "Life Is But A Dream," "What'll I Do," "It Could Happen To You," and the title track "Some Enchanted Evening." Garfunkel performs selections from the new collection in his current shows.
Art Garfunkel performs on Wednesday, March 21st, in Paris. He'll kick off his next set of U.S. dates on April 7th in Philadelphia at the Kimmel Center.
