Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will have another mouth to feed pretty soon. According to Vietnam's top adoption official, it'll take about three months for the couple's adoption papers to clear, at which point they can take home their new son. Brangelina found the boy during a visit to a Vietnamese orphanage last year. He'll be the third adopted child for the couple, who also have a biological baby girl.
Anna Nicole Smith's bodyguard was questioned by police yesterday (March 7th) about the circumstances surrounding the TrimSpa spokeswoman's death. TMZ reports that "Big Moe" told authorities he witnessed Howard K. Stern administering drugs daily to Smith, and that he kept a constant eye on her. His regular check-ups did not happen, however, on the day she died. Instead, Moe says, Stern was nowhere to be found when Smith fell into unconsciousness and was taken to the hospital.
Johnny Depp's seven-year-old daughter is said to be in "serious condition" at a British hospital, Britain's Sun tabloid reports. The actor was in London to begin filming the screen adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical Sweeny Todd, when his daughter Lily-Rose was hospitalized for an undisclosed illness. Depp and his partner Vanessa Paradis have sent the last nine days in the hospital with their daughter A hospital source tells the Sun: "They are worried sick -- but Lily-Rose is getting the very best treatment available." Depp's spokesman declined to comment.
Mark Burnett, the man behind the reality show Rock Star, is being sued by a woman who claims he stole her idea for the show, TMZ.com reports. In her lawsuit, Sharlene Sullivan claims she registered a show synopsis with the Writer's Guild of America called Rock Star in 2002. Sullivan claims she shared the idea for the show with industry insiders connected to both Burnett and the rock band INXS. After initial interest, Sullivan claims she was told to "abandon the project" and Burnett created Rock Star: INXS shortly after. She is seeking more than $2 million in damages.
Dreamgirls co-star Jennifer Hudson is the new spokesperson for Avon. The cosmetics company said yesterday (March 7th) that Hudson will be the face of its Imari brand and its newest perfume Imari Seduction, which goes on sale in August.
Sacha Baron Cohen's fictional character Borat made an appearance in the State Department's annual report on human rights abuses. Borat was mentioned in the chapter devoted to Kazakhstan, the former Soviet republic which the U.S. says has increased restrictions on freedom of speech. Specifically, the country was reprimanded for taking down Borat's Kazakh website.
Wings alum Tim Daly is the latest actor to scrub in for the Grey's Anatomy spin-off. Daly will guest star in the two-hour Grey's Anatomy episode in May that'll serve as a springboard for the new show, which will focus on Kate Walsh's Dr. Addison Shepherd. Taye Diggs and has already committed to the spin-off.
Marisa Tomei is starring in the CBS pilot The Rich Inner Life of Penelope Cloud. If picked up for the network's 2007-2008 season, the show would be about an author who tries recapturing her "youthful optimism" when she suffers from writer's block.
Zodiac star Mark Ruffalo and his wife are expecting their third child this fall. They currently have a five-year-old boy and a one-year-old girl.
Movie theaters are still the best place to "experience" a film, according to a survey commissioned by the Motion Picture Association of America. 63 percent of moviegoers said they preferred watching a movie in 2006 on the big screen versus at home or by other means. That's a slight decrease from the 69 percent who chose theaters in a similar 2005 survey.
