Cops mistakenly apprehend actor carrying gun
The lines between real life and make-believe were blurred in a big way for MTV VJ-turned-actor Erik Palladino last month. Palladino was on the streets of Hollywood filming a scene for the independent movie Hotel California when he was rushed by L.A.P.D. officers with weapons drawn. Turns out they had no idea that a film was being shot and thought Palladino was some kind of criminal brandishing a real gun.
Palladino was freed by the cops as soon as crew members explained the situation, and filming resumed without incident, according to TMZ.
Hotel California director Geo Santini was all business about the incident even before he realized it was a police mistake. He reportedly told Palladino while he was being apprehended, "You gotta be on set tomorrow, that's what the contract says."
