Daughtry climbs back to number two
Daughtry's self-titled debut sold 84,000 copies and climbed seven spots this week on the Billboard album chart to finish at Number Two, even though sales of the CD were down 17 percent from the previous week. The first effort from American Idol runner-up Chris Daughtry and his band has sold a total of 1.7 million copies since its release late last year. Daughtry told us that he's ready to be judged now on his own musical merits and not just as a contestant on the hit series: "Yeah, you never want to bite the hand that feeds you, and you don't wanna, you know, I don't regret going on there, so it's not something I'm ashamed of. But every artist, you know, wants to break away from that title, I guess. I think we feel that we are more than that and we can offer a lot more than what we offered on the show, so we wanna make sure that people are seeing what we're doing now."
Fall Out Boy's new Infinity On High climbed two spots to Number Three as it moved 79,000 copies this week to bring its three-week total to 458,000.
There were no major rock debuts on the chart this week. Overall record sales were down across the board by 17 percent.
Daughtry is on a sold-out U.S. tour that brings the group to Lincoln, Nebraska on Sunday (March 4th).
The first single from his album is called "It's Not Over."
