Ex-Fuel singer joins remaining Doors members

Former Fuel lead singer Brett Scallions has joined Riders on the Storm, the band composed of Doors keyboard player Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robbie Krieger. Scallions replaces Ian Astbury, who left the group to continue working with his recently reactivated band, the Cult. Manzarek said in a statement, "Brett is on board and we are glad to have him, he has a great voice and a lot of charisma." Scallions added, "Having an opportunity to share the stage with these great musicians is more exciting than anything I've ever done. I'm so proud to be a part of this."

Scallions departed Fuel in early 2006 after more than ten years. He sang on the group's first three albums, which included hit songs such as "Bittersweet" and "Shimmer."

Fuel has been mixing its fourth effort in Los Angeles, although a title and release date have yet to be revealed. The band has still not officially announced singer Toryn Green as the replacement for Scallions.

The group reportedly offered the frontman job to American Idol runner-up Chris Daughtry at one point.

Riders on the Storm was originally called the Doors of the 21st Century until Doors drummer John Densmore and the estates of late singer Jim Morrison and his wife, Pamela Courson, forced Manzarek and Krieger to change the name.
