Final Who dates in jeopardy

Roger Daltrey is suffering from a dangerous viral infection which forced the Who to cancel Saturday night's show in Mexico City and Tuesday night's (March 20th) San Antonio concert. Last week, the Who aborted their Tampa, Florida show minutes after starting, when Daltrey's voice gave out during opening number "I Can't Explain."

On Saturday, Pete Townshend updated fans on Daltrey's progress on his official blog (petetownshend-whohe.blogspot.com) stating that, "Two days ago it was established that Roger had alarmingly low Sodium levels leading to problematic dehydration. He has contracted a viral infection. It was recommended he go into hospital and go on a drip for a few days to set him right. A doctor from the UK advised caution, and suggested Roger simply try resting before going into hospital. He is taking some medication, I have no idea what." He added that Daltrey would be seeing his doctor again on Monday, March 19th.

Townshend had announced that a make-up date for the band's aborted Tampa show would be take place next Sunday (March 25th). It is still up in the air whether Daltrey will be well enough to perform at the make-up show or the Who's other final U.S. dates in Little Rock (March 22nd), Oklahoma City (March 23rd), or in Hollywood, Florida (March 26). Pollstar.com is still listing the four shows as scheduled to go on as planned.

Townshend says that he feels lucky to still have an active professional and personal relationship with Daltrey: "I think being stratified by some extent by losing Keith Moon and losing John Entwistle, relatively recently in John's case, we have each other, and we're supported by great musicians. And we're very, very lucky. We go back to school together, so it's great to still have that friendship and that relationship. You know, I don't know that I know anybody that well from those days. But when you have friends that go back... When you're 60 and you have friends that go back 45 years, that's very cool."
