Franz Ferdinand starts work on new album
Franz Ferdinand has started work on its third studio album, according to England's xfm.co.uk. Frontman Alex Kapranos said that the new songs he and guitarist Nick McCarthy are writing are different from their previous work, but will still sound like Franz Ferdinand. Kapranos explained, "It's a wee bit different from the last stuff but still very danceable, that's the main thing. It's always pop. Franz Ferdinand has always been pop."
Kapranos did not indicate when the band would head into the studio.
The Scottish group will perform at the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee in mid-June, but will forego any other summer festival appearances in England or Europe to work on the new CD.
The new Franz Ferdinand effort will follow up 2005's You Could Have It So Much Better.
